Susan's broad experience in real estate law includes completion of residential and commercial transactions both on small-tract levels and large-tract/full-development levels. Her expertise covers careful examination of titles, closing of loans, preparation of covenants, conditions and restrictions, and associated development documentation. Susan's larger clients include Land Resource Companies, LLC; The Settings Development Companies, LLC; Soapstone Creek Estates, LLC; LR Buffalo Creek, LLC; and The Settings of Black Mountain, LLC.
She served as local counsel for Atlanta-based Settings Development Company, which was facing numerous topographical, utility and annexation issues in developing a 364-acre gated community in Black Mountain. And in several cases worth a total of $13 million, Susan served as local counsel for Land Resource Companies, LLC. The company was facing multiple location, right-of-way, lake and zoning issues for developments in Buncombe, Henderson and Rutherford counties, and the result was successful closure on each development.
Susan is a Member of the Real Property Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Real Estate Lawyers Association of North Carolina, Women Excelling in Business and the Women Lawyers Alliance. In the community she is a volunteer at A.C. Reynolds High School, with the Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyers Program for Pisgah Legal Services, and is a Volunteer with OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling. Susan serves on the Board of the Girl Scouts of Western North Carolina Pisgah Council and is a Member of the Juliette Gordon Low Society Peaks to Piedmont Girl Scout Council. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Asheville Humane Society, and a member and board member of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. Susan is a youth group leader at New Hope Presbyterian Church.
