Douglas works with clients in the real estate, banking, business and investment industries, guiding them in achieving their financial and investment goals by advising them in purchasing, selling and exchanging real property. Representative clients include Mountain Retreat Association, Inc.; Brown-Metcalf Construction, LLC; S. B. Coleman Construction Company, LLC; Bowers, Ellis & Watson, P.A., Architects.

When Rhode Island-based Wayt Trust wanted to exchange investment property in Georgia for other properties in that state as well as new ones in Florida and New Jersey, Douglas helped with the $4.6 million transaction. He assisted M&M Development Company with the successful purchase and development of Oakley Plaza and Yancey Commons shopping centers, plus Walgreen's drug stores in South Asheville, Boone and Wilkesboro, with transactions and developments adding up to tens of millions of dollars.

Douglas worked with Mountain Retreat Association to negotiate with the North Carolina Clean Water Fund to place more than 2,000 acres of land in a conservation easement, wading through numerous property ownership issues and ending with a grant check of $3.8 million. He also helped Taylor Land & Cattle company buy, sell and exchange millions of dollars worth or property in Buncombe and Henderson counties.

Douglas' publications include "Deed and Division of Real Estate Issues" for North Carolina Bar Foundation Continuing Legal Education, and "Resolving Property Line Problems" for the National Business Institute's Continuing Legal Education series. He has served on the board of directors for Meals on Wheels, and is chair of the Real Property Committee of the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.
