Estate Planning and Estate Administration
The Estate Planning and Estate Administration practice at McGuire, Wood & Bissette, P.A. centers on personal, in-depth counseling to individuals and families on a variety of lifetime planning issues, including estate planning, wills, trusts, property transfers, income, estate gift and generation skipping transfer taxes and more. We do all this in accordance with client goals, at a reasonable cost and in cooperation with the clients' other professional advisors.
We assist in planning for the care of the incapacitated through use of durable powers of attorney, living trusts, appointment of health care agents, declarations of a desire for a natural death, irrevocable trusts and special needs trusts. We also provide guidance with gifting programs and other plans to preserve family wealth, including family limited partnerships, limited liability companies and recapitalizations, all while giving consideration to income, gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
Owners of closely-held businesses have special needs. We advise these clients on the use of buy-sell arrangements, corporate restructuring and other planning for the family, helping them achieve a reduction or deferral of taxes to transfer businesses with minimal disruption to operations.
